Mr Samuel Jorge, Jr Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

FORT WORTH -- Samuel Jorge Jr., 59, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 16, 2011, at a local hospice. Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 3601 Altamesa Blvd., Fort Worth. Interment: Laurel Land. Visitation: noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Guardian Funeral Home, with a vigil beginning at 7. Samuel was born Sept. 29, 1952, in Manhattan, N.Y., to Samuel Jorge Sr. and Ana Alicia Jorge. He was the oldest of nine children. He married Jan M. Cathey in Fort Worth on April 12, 1997. He attended New York City Community College. He served in the Army for 20 years, including a tour of duty during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Samuel earned two Defense Service Medals, three Overseas Service Ribbons, three Southwest Asia Medals and three Bronze Stars. He was employed by Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Co. as a security guard for four years. He enjoyed golf, going to the lake with family and spending time with his dogs. Samuel was predeceased by his father, Samuel Jorge Sr.; sister, Hilda Cotto; and grandmother, Georgina Collazo. Survivors: Samuel will be remembered by his loving wife, Jan; son, Tony Jorge; mother, Ana A. Jorge; siblings, Anita Almodovar, Irma Ortiz, Hector Jorge, Violet Quinones, Milagros Jorge-Mando, Carmen Kakakios and Antonio Jorge; aunt, Carmen "Titi" Jorge; and numerous family and friends.
