Mary Margaret Harper

June 15, 1927 - November 13, 2017

Fort Worth - Mary Margaret Harper, 90, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 13th, 2017. Memorial Service - Mary was born June 15th, 1927 to George and Aline Renfro in North Fort Worth. One of her early jobs was at the Fort Worth Star Telegram. From there, she went on to work at the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, retiring after more than 33 years as Information Director. After the chamber, she worked at Johnnie High's Country Music Review. She said this was her most enjoyable job, although she never actually referred to it as a job. She would go to work with many wonderful entertainers and became very close friends with Johnnie High. She worked many years there, finally "retiring" again. Mary loved her family very much. The best times in her life was when her grandchildren were born and later her great grandchildren. She was known to her 'kids' as Mamoo. She was generous to a fault, thinking only of others. She had many accomplishments in her life. Earlier in life, she was a talented ball room dancer winning many competitions. She was also was an avid collector of elephant figurines which she displayed proudly. On top of all that, she was an avid sports fan. She was a life time hockey fan, being a charter season ticket holder of the Fort Worth Brahmas. She loved the Dallas Stars. She kept statistics on football players, hockey, baseball and Nascar. As far as hockey, it wasn't a game unless a fight broke out. She was an anachronism when it came to sports. Mary was a tender loving person but loved the physicality of sports. Mary was a very sweet and loving woman. She made a multitude of friends during her life, all of which she cherished. She never had a lot of material things but she counted her family and friends as her most treasured possessions. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Mary was an inspiration to her son, who saw her as a model of morals and love. Survivors: Son, King Harper and wife Debbie Harper, granddaughters Michelle Nelson and husband Andy Nelson, Jenny Harper and great grandchildren Aubrey and Brandon Nelson, and a host of family and friends.
