Kevin Lynn Davis Kevin Lynn Davis was born, March 19, 1949, at Baldwin Hospital in Redfield, South Dakota. He was the fifth child of Arnold and Lorraine Davis. Kevin passed away in Fort Worth, Texas on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the age of 73 after battling lung cancer. After his diagnosis and first hospitalization, he decided that he didn’t want a funeral. Instead, approximately 50 friends gathered at his best friends, Janice and Bud Young, home and had a celebration of his life with him. After the second hospitalization, he chose Heart to Heart Hospice for his final days. Cremation arrangements were made through Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas. Arnold, the son of Leroy and Inez Davis of Ree Heights, SD (7-24-1917 to 7-7-1981) and Lorraine, the daughter of Frank and Mayme (Clark) McKown (12-9-1916 to 10-8-1997) were married on June 24, 1939, in Faulkton, South Dakota. They had five children including Linda (Schmidt deceased), Donald (deceased), Chuck, Dale, and Kevin. They lived in several different towns around South Dakota because Arnold worked in road construction. The family moved to Buffalo in 1959, where Kevin attended school, graduating Buffalo High School with the Class of 1967. During high school, he worked at the Western Café. In school, he worked on the school newspaper and the annual – he was also active in dramatics. Kevin attended Cosmetology School and returned to Buffalo where he operated a beauty shop for about 4 years. He also had a beauty shop in Sturgis. Kevin then moved to Denver, Colorado, and later Douglas, Wyoming for a short period of time. While working at the Holiday Inn in Douglas, he met his life partner and husband of 41 years, Thomas “Tom” W. Truitt. Kevin moved to Texas with Tom in March of 1981. They were married on December 24, 2016. Kevin enjoyed working with horses his whole life and worked in the equine industry all his years in Texas. His first job in Texas was with Las Colinas Equestrian Center as a groom. This job introduced him to the horse show circuit and many long-lasting friendships. After Las Colinas, he privately trained horses, gave riding lessons, and took his students to various horse shows around the country. His students and their parents were lifelong friends of both Kevin and Tom. He also loved barrel racing and competed until he was in his 70s. Kevin had an out-going personality, loved joking with people, and was kind and compassionate. He made many life-long friends and will be greatly missed.
