James Allen Scarborough was born October 10, 1933, in Fort Worth Texas to Luther “Big Dad” and Annie Belle (Johnson) Scarborough. He grew up in Fort Worth, and attended Polytechnic High School where “Jimmy” was involved in many activities. He was in National Honor Society, the Student Council Senior Class President, sports editor of the school paper and a 2-year basketball letterman. He graduated Valedictorian from Polytechnic in 1951. Jim attended Texas Christian University, graduating Cum Laude in 1955, with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting. While at TCU, Jim joined the Air Force, ROTC, where he held the position of “Chief of Staff.” On June 2, 1955 Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant. While serving in the USAF, he lived abroad in Germany and traveled to many places such as Italy, London, France, Greece, Norway and Denmark. Upon his discharge from the USAF, Jim worked as a CPA in Fort Worth for many years. Jim went to his eternal home on Sunday, March 25th, 2018 at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther “Big Dad” Scarborough and his mother, Annie Belle (Johnson) Scarborough, step-mother; Azlea Scarborough, brother; Luther Scarborough, Jr., and sister; Marian Massey. He is survived by his brother, Jon Scarborough and wife, Pam Scarborough, his sister-in-law, Betty Scarborough, son; Lee Scarborough, son; Robert Scarborough and wife Celine Verdier, daughter; Linda Jeffress and husband James “Buzz” Jeffress and son; Jon Scarborough and wife Christi Scarborough, along with 7 grandsons, 3 great grandsons, and several nieces, and nephews. Jim’s memorial service will be at South Hills Christian Church, 3200 Bilglade Rd, Fort Worth, Texas on March 30, 2018 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, any donations to Community Hospice of Texas would be much appreciated by the family.
