LEWISVILLE -- Earl Nicholas Watry, 80, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009. Service: A celebration of life Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville, followed by a veteran's honor service in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: Donations may be made to the American Heart Association. He was born Feb. 13, 1928, in Port Washington, Wis., to William and Rose Gonwa Watry. Earl attended St. Mary's School, where he was educated by the Sisters of Notre Dame. He graduated from Port Washington High School in 1945. After moving to Janesville, Wis., he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Earl served in the Korean War near or at the 38th parallel and was honorably discharged from the military in November 1952. He married the love of his life, Ruth Evelyn Teff, on Jan. 17, 1953, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Janesville. They had three children, David, Debra and Dianne, and four grandchildren, Ross, Michael, Rachel and Erin. Earl worked on the truck assembly line at General Motors in Janesville from 1953 to 1988. He belonged to UAW-Local 95. Earl also served as an usher at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Janesville for many years. In 1988, he and Ruth moved to Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Earl was a family man, who loved and was loved by his family and friends. A special thanks to the doctors and staff at the Medical Center of Lewisville. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roland Watry and Harold Watry. Survivors: His wife of 56 years, Ruth; their children, David M. Watry of Irving, Debra Weidenfeller (Don) of Spring and Dianne Bilbrey (Karl) of Flower Mound; grandchildren, Christopher Ross Nichols of Austin, Michael Weidenfeller of College Station, Rachel Weidenfeller of Spring and Erin Nichols of Flower Mound; brother, Donald Watry of Port Washington, Wis.; sister, Jean Melsheimer (Michael) of Port Washington, Wis.; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
