FORT WORTH -- Dorothy Fleming passed away at her home in River Oaks on Wednesday night, July 28, 2010, following a brief illness. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday at River Oaks United Methodist Church, 4800 Ohio Garden Road. Dorothy was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Malakoff. As did many people of her era, she developed a strong sense of love and loyalty to her country and her faith. Her true passion in life was her family and home. She had an amazing zest for living, and a knack for making fiends. Prior to her physical impairments, she loved to bowl, and was an active member of River Oaks United Methodist Church. The family wishes to extend a very special thank-you to Gary Butler, her close friend and caregiver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll H. Fleming; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman McNeil; brother, Travis McNeil, and one sister, Clarisse Smith. Survivors: Sister, Wanda Swanson and her husband. Sonny. of Fort Worth; daughter, Jeannie Winstead of River Oaks; sons, James Fleming and wife, Karen Hamilton, of Electra and Dan Fleming and wife, Kim, of River Oaks; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
