Dorothy Ann Morgan Howard Nowlin

March 26, 1927 - March 25, 2022

DOROTHY ANN MORGAN HOWARD NOWLIN, 94, passed from this earthly life March 25, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas to her heavenly home. She was born March 26, 1927 in Waurika, Oklahoma and lived there with her loving father and mother, Lawrence Garner and Jennie Mae Kerby Morgan. Dorothy graduated from Waurkia High School in 1945. She married O'Dale Howard upon his return from WWII and then attended college together. Dorothy earned a Teacher's Certification and Home Economics degree from Oklahoma A&M (Now OSU) in 1950 and began her teaching career in Ft Cobb, Oklahoma. From there, Dorothy devoted her love, time and talents in raising their family in Oklahoma City, Altus and Fort Worth, Texas. Dorothy returned to teaching, having a significant impact upon her students, as the high school Home Economics and Life Skills instructor at the Masonic Home and School in Fort Worth from 1976 to 1993. She was instrumental in forming a Downtown Singles group at The First Methodist Church where she met her second husband, Dan Nowlin. They had many common interests and blended their adult families together. Dorothy and Dan enjoyed life together, delighting in their family and friends, traveling and sharing in a mutual Model-A hobby. Dorothy participated in the lives of her grandchildren by offering unconditional love and encouragement from day one with "Nana Days", Model-A Adventures, school and church events, high school and college graduations, as well as being there to witness marriages and great-grandchildren. Dorothy became a widow in 2004 and remained an independent woman. She was an active member of Genesis United Methodist Church, Fort Worth Model-A Club, continued to travel, and enjoyed any and all activities with her family. Dorothy will be remembered as a remarkable woman with strength of faith, mind and intelligence along with a depth of character. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She possessed a strong and positive attitude with a fun sense of humor and love of laughter. Dorothy lived her life in the present and cherished each day as it was given to her. She showed us how to age gracefully, without complaint. Her pain, afflictions and discomfort never overtook her hope, joy and peace for a better tomorrow. Dorothy is our example of how to journey through life as a good and faithful servant. Share Dorothy's life with others as you share your memories of her. Share often and keep her alive in your hearts. Dorothy is survived by her son, Larry Dale Howard of Ratliff, OK, her daughter Mary Ann Wood and husband Mark of Burleson, TX; four grandchildren- Alexandra Fischer and husband Jonathan, Jeriad Wood and wife Abby, Sarah Stephens and husband Kevin, and Amanda Howard; three great-grandchildren- Levi and Riley Stephens and Declen Wood.
