Dave Austin Buckner

August 4, 1958 - March 1, 2022

David Austin Buckner, 63, passed away Tuesday, March 1st, 2022, after a short battle with an aggressive cancer. Dave was born on August 4, 1958 in Fort Worth, Texas to Gene and Susan Buckner, and was a life-long resident of Benbrook. Dave graduated from Western Hills High School in 1976 and attended Tarrant County College. He had over 45 years of HVAC experience, starting as a helper to his father, then as a technician, an installer, and later the owner and manager of the family business, Benbrook Air Conditioning and Heating. Dave was a very proud and loving father to Liz and John, and Pop Pop to Liz's son, Lucas. An admiration for the wilderness gave him the love of being an avid hunter. He shared this knowledge and passion with his children, instilling and inspiring their love of hunting, fishing, and exploring nature. He always looked forward to each year's hunting season to share with family and close friends. For 43 years, Dave was a Mason and a member of Ridglea Masonic Lodge No. 1341 AF&AM. He was a past Master and a recipient of the Golden Trowel award, the highest honor a lodge can bestow on a member. Dave was also a Past High Priest in Chapter and a Thrice Illustrious Master in Council. He was a recipient of the Cornerstone award, the highest honor in the Chapter and Council. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Gene Buckner. He is survived by his mother, Susan Buckner, daughter Elizabeth Meyer, son Johnathan Buckner, grandson Lucas Meyer, sister Leah Lancaster and husband Rick, along with nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and many cousins. His many customers have become friends throughout the decades. He will be missed. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Benbrook, 1015 McKinley St., Benbrook, on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 11 a.m., with funeral service following at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth. Services entrusted to long-time family friend, Kate Branson, through Guardian Funeral Home.
