Mr Alvin B Weekley

June 8, 1924 - May 16, 2011

ARLINGTON -- Longtime Arlington resident Alvin Bassell Weekley, 86, died Tuesday May 16, 2011, at Arlington Memorial Hospital. Service: There will be a memorial service held 4 PM Friday May 20,2011 at St. Peter & St. Paul Anglican Church 3900 Morris Lane, in Arlington. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Al's memory to The American Heart Association or to The Salvation Army. Mr. Weekley was born June 8, 1924 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to H.H. and Margaret Weekley. He graduated from Lehman High School, Canton, Ohio, in 1942. Mr. Weekley proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war he returned home to complete his studies at Kent State University where he met and eventually married Laverne Partridge on August 27, 1949. Following Al's career, the young couple moved about the country living in several states and eventually landed in Arlington. In the course of his career as a systems analyst, Al worked for Chance Vought Corp., Martin Marietta, and ARCO Petroleum. A lifelong Episcopalian, his heart for his fellow man led to an interest in politics and civic activism. Al ran for school board member and for a seat in the state legislature. Mr. Weekley was preceded in death by Laverne, his wife of fifty years and by his granddaughter Lara Majka. Survivors: He is survived by his sister Margaret Ramsey; son and daughter-in-law John and Donna Weekley; daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and John Biegel; daughter Laura Weekley; daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Randall Hudson; granddaughter and husband Denise and Stan Otani; granddaughter and husband Rhonda and Dan Walters, grandson and wife Symon and Sarah Biegel; granddaughter Eleanor Biegel; granddaughter and husband Alicia and Brad Stratton; grandson Jake Hudson; and five great-grandchildren.
